Style Inspiration: The Like

Their music is great. I love the 60's girl group influence, but it is their 1960's style that is my favorite thing about this band. They just look so cool. Lead singer Z Berg is Twiggy but better. She makes me want to cut my hair, load on the eye make-up and wear little girl vintage dresses.

Barbecue, Me and You

We had a great Memorial Day barbecue with friends and my husband's now famous ribs. A great way to welcome summer.

Favorites From The American Woman Exhibit

I found these pictures on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Flickr page and they show the wonderful costumes from the exhibit on American Women. I was especially drawn to the Gibson Girl outfits from the late 1890's to the early 1900's. My favorite was a swimming costume that you can kind of see in the second picture. It was a black wool knee length dress with white nautical trim and an anchor on the front. She wore it with black tights of course. They were probably really hot on the beach in wool dresses, but damn they looked cute.

East Side, West Side, All Around The Town...

A quick trip to NYC with my mom and daughter took us all over Central Park and to the Metropolitan Museum to see a wonderful exhibit on American Women. I wish I could have taken pictures of the clothes in the exhibit. It showed clothing from the 1890's to the 1940's and my favorite period of the Gibson Girl.

Salty and Peppy

My favorite vintage salt and pepper shakers named "Salty and Peppy" and some fresh strawberries that we ate last night.

Under A Shady Tree

I love how this little tree canopies over the walkway in my parents' back yard.
